Barb Higgins: Future Mayor of Calgary or Professional Dancer?
Posted by Avenue Staff in Culture Snacks on Jul 27 2010 11:47
Today Calgary is abuzz with news that Barb Higgins, who just last week announced that she was leaving her post as an anchor woman with CTV Calgary, will be making a big announcement about her future plans.
And while most Calgary media outlets are speculating that Higgins will become the latest, and first female, candidate vying to become Calgary's next mayor we'd like to go out on a limb with our tongues firmly in our cheeks and predict that Higgins will announce that she is becoming a professional dancer. A Tango dancer to be more specific.

Wow is really all I have to say, Shakura S'Aida got the crowd going in a big way. And her guitar player was a whole lot of blues packed into a little person. I will be trying to catch S'Aida when she appears in workshops.
Saturday 3:20-4:30 p.m. Stage Three
Sunday 11:30 a.m. 12:40 p.m. Stage Four

The Avett Brothers at The Calgary Folk Music Festival

I'll admit my knowledge of the Avett Brothers was limited but after tonight I am totally a convert to the North Carolina Brothers bluegrass tinged style. Tight harmonies, a driving acoustic bottom and stage prescence galore. These gentleman have the whole package.
