Calgary Opera Announces 2010-11 Season

Calgary Opera revealed its 2010-11 season schedule this morning at the Arrata Opera Centre. The line-up features four productions beginning with Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor on November 20. The season continues with the world premiere of Bramwell Tovey and John Murrell's The Inventor, a fact based tale about 19th century con man Sandy Keith Jr. (Canadian beer legend Alexander Keith's infamous nephew). The first stage production season concludes with the grand saga Aida by Giuseppe Verdi. Set in Cairo, the sweeping epic about an Ethiopian Princess taken into slavery promises to showcase the amazing staging talents of Calgary Opera.

Also, Mozart's Cosi fan tutte will be will be performed under Calgary Opera's Emerging Artist Development program. Conducted by Gordon Gerrard and directed by Bob White, the comedic opera will give these new talents the perfect platform to show Calgary their craft. 

Subscription renewals for next season are on sale now, and single performance tickets go on sale next fall.
