Inside Avenue’s Inaugural Top 20 Under 20 Celebration

Avenue, in partnership with YMCA Calgary, honoured 20 young high achievers who make Calgary a better place.

On March 13th, Avenue, in partnership with YMCA Calgary, celebrated the city’s young high achievers at the inaugural Top 20 Under 20 celebration.

The event took place at Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge and was emceed by Lisette Xavier, host of CBC’s Bestest Day Ever with My Best Friend. Remarks were made by Her Honour, the Honourable Salma Lakhani, Lieutenant Governor of Alberta; deputy mayor and Ward 9 councillor Gian-Carlo Carra; and Shannon Doram, YMCA president and CEO. Each speaker touched on the importance of nurturing and supporting young people and encouraging them to build their lives in Calgary.

In addition to light refreshments catered by Lina’s Italian Market, the event featured music from Upscale Entertainment and a live art painting by Dean Stanton where guests collaborated on a glass painting that will hang in the Shane Homes YMCA.

The audience included the Top 20 judges, the honourees’ friends, family and supporters, members of the community, and RedPoint Media Group and Avenue staff.

The class of 2025 is the first Top 20 cohort in this new program that highlights Calgary’s next generation of leaders. Read more about the class of 2025 on Avenue’s website.
