Deerfoot Mall is Going to be Deerfoot City
A two minute fly-through video has been released to give us an idea of what the new shopping area will look like.
It was announced last summer that Deerfoot Mall was going to undergo a massive redevelopment by Shape Properties, with promises of a pedestrian friendly design that includes retail, restaurants and maybe some entertainment.
Digital renderings were just released along with a fly-through video giving us a better visual of just what that might look like. While these videos are always set in the idyllic world where cars obey the traffic laws, pedestrians stroll casually and the sun is shining, this one does pique our interest, especially if you think about what the mall looks like now.
The development will transform the existing mall and expand into vacant lots surrounding it. There is a central plaza, High Street and districts for fashion and restaurants.
So far the confirmed tenants include GoodLife Fitness and Cabela’s. Demolition of the mall to start building the High Street will begin in spring 2016 and the project is scheduled to be completed in 2017.
