Calgarians turned out in droves to be among the first shoppers inside Uniqlo‘s first Calgary store, with a line on opening day that ran through CF Chinook Centre and even outside the mall.

The popular Tokyo-based brand, which offers a range of apparel for men, women and children, has 18 Canadian locations and more than 2,400 stores around the world. The new Calgary store marks Uniqlo’s second Alberta location (there’s also one in Edmonton).

Spread across 15,000 square feet, the Calgary store carries all the wardrobe staples that Uniqlo customers know and love, with offerings ranging from winter parkas and gloves to pants and sweaters. The brand’s innovative apparel includes offerings like items made with the breathable Airism fabric and BlueCycle jeans that are fabricated using 99 per cent less water than typical jeans.

Shoppers can also take advantage of Uniqlo’s helpful services, like free hemming on pants (not including sweatpants and athletic wear) that are $20 or more and the buy-online-pickup-in-store service.
