Alberta Ballet presents the Canadian premiere of Francesco Ventriglia’s The Wizard of Oz at the Jubilee Auditorium, an incredible performance of heart, mind and courage. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to follow the yellow brick road and see how this amazing production comes together with a backstage tour and exclusive viewing of the final dress rehearsal on March 13 at noon.
Go Behind the Curtain
A-List and Alberta Ballet are offering the chance for a unique look behind the scenes. Starting at noon, you’ll be brought on stage to see how the production is choreographed with sets, movements and props. You’ll learn about the sheer magnitude of work that goes into creating Oz on stage for the dancers. Then you’ll get a special guided tour through the “back of house” labyrinth of rooms and corridors, including wardrobe, where you’ll meet people involved with the show and get a chance to ask questions. You might even bump into the Wizard himself.
After your tour, stick around and enjoy the final dress rehearsal of the performance before opening night. See the full production, with occasional stops and comments from artistic director Franceso Ventriglia, as the dancers perfect their performance and timing. It’s a completely different way to experience the show (and a little less formal, if you want to move around, change seats and see Oz from every angle).
