Looking for something to do outside as the weather warms up? Consider going out into the community to check out some of Calgary’s historic local architecture.

Heritage Calgary offers a series of self-guided walking tours that take you through several historical neighbourhoods and parks including the Beltline, Inglewood, Upper and Lower Mount Royal and more. Each walking tour has its own brochure with paths laid out to important buildings and architecture in the area, plus tidbits of information about each stop.

Options like the Inglewood tour will take you through one of Calgary’s oldest neighbourhoods while learning about buildings like Fire Station No.3, which was one of Calgary’s first fire stations, or Hunt House, which is the city’s oldest standing building still on its original site.

Whether you visit all the stops on a tour or just a few, the tours are a great way to learn more about local architecture at your own pace.
